HEAR FROM PARTICIPATING LEADERS

For learning experiences, the more hands on, the better. It's important to support the whole process with peer to peer learning, coaching, and mentoring. Not only during the experience per se, but also when participants are back in their day to day jobs.

We created a ‘Cultural Stewards’ program for every partner in the firm. What was unusual was the scale and commitment. We didn't get 400 people in the room. We ran the program 20 times with small groups of 20 people. The purpose was to engender authentic, meaningful dialogue. The CEO personally hosted a dinner in all but one of those sessions (which the president hosted).

Our learning solutions team at the center covers a lot of horizontal skills, including upskilling and reskilling. Our operations-focused training is done in our business units that are closest to our customer. I'm a staunch proponent of that model simply because the business can typically react faster than a center-led learning organization can.
